During Cyclone Yasi in Cairns of Feb 2011, my partner and i were sitting outside watching the beginnings of the storm. We were looking North from Brinsmead, Towards the beaches, when We saw bright flashes of colour in the sky, with green, blue and red illuminating the clouds. The bursts of light lasted only a few seconds each, and were not seen after that. They didn’t appear to be flares, as the light filled the greater area of the sky. Does anyone have a logical explanation?
